Richard G. “Dick” Burrell, 72, of Upton, died Friday, October 23, 2015 in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness with his family by his side. He was the husband of Joan E. (Fritz) Burrell.
Dick was born in Weymouth, the son of the late Frank G. and Elizabeth (Ford) Burrell. He grew up in Hingham and was a 1961 graduate of Hingham High School.
An avid fisherman and goose and duck hunter, he was especially proud of his state role in organizing an annual deer hunt for paraplegic hunters. He had also been active in the South Middlesex Bass Anglers and Ducks Unlimited, and was passionate about teaching children how to fish.
In addition to his wife of 42 years; he leaves one son, Reid G. Burrell and his partner Kelly Alger of Whitinsville; and several cousins.
