Richard Francis Gehl, 87, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a short illness of lung cancer. Richard was born in Shakopee, Minnesota on September 29, 1928 to Charles and Anna (Cassellius) o’Gehl.

Richard proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S Army during World War II until he was honorably discharged. Richard came back to Minnesota and completed broadcasting college. For 20 years, Richard was in radio and television broadcasting at KMOT. Richard then owned and operated KTYN radio station for 15 years. In 1968, while at KTYN, he started the North Dakota AG Expo and operated it until his retirement. Prior to owning KTYN radio station, Richard met the love of his life, Theresa Black. They just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Richard and Theresa were chartered members of Our Lady of Grace in Minot, North Dakota. Richard was very active with the Knight of Columbus where he served as a Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator of Council 4894 of our Lady of Grace. Richard was an active donator of the St. Gianna Maternity Home. Richard and Theresa loved to travel in their RV to many places, one of their favorites being Oregon.

Richard’s pride and joy was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Richard is survived by his wife, currently of Dallas, TX; his children, Susan Feist of Fargo, ND, Tom Gehl and his wife, Pam, of North Liberty, IA, John Gehl and his wife, Teresa, of Astoria, OR, Jeff Boston of Monroe, LA, Mary Weiner and her husband, Gordon, of San Antonio, TX, and Ann Gehl of Dallas, Texas; his grandchildren, Matt, Judy and Ellie Feist, Brian and Michelle Gehl, Sumer and Josh Gehl, Eric and Sarah Boston, and Lucas and Nicholas Weiner; and his great-grandchildren, Kevalin Feist, Owen and Oliver Gehl, Lucy Sause, Layton, Cal and Fiona Bostow, and Evelyn Veach. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Gehl; his sisters, Katherine and Jeanie; and his brothers, Donny, Harry, Bob, Jim, and Jack.

The Rosary will be recited at 6 pm on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Hughes Family Tribute Center in Dallas, Texas.
