Richard Eugene Dyson (Gene) is the son of Clarence and Florance Dyson born in Gaithersburg (Quince Orchard), Maryland. He leaves behind his wife of fifty-six years Pamela (Gaunt) Dyson; his only son Richard Bernard Dyson and daughters Risa Dyson, Carolyn (Dyson) Kittrell, and Diane (Prather) Butler. Grandchildren Arielle Cobb, Amanda Dyson, Alizaha Owens, Dakotta Dyson, Vernice Butler, Cheyenne Dyson, Evelyn Kittrell, Garrison Kittrell, and Canvas Kittrell; Great-Grandchildren Declan Cobb, Mia Dyson, Caleb Cobb, Kayson Frost, and Wyatt Cobb; his devoted brother Leroy Prather and sister Judy Prate, and all his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by this daughter Janice Dyson and his twin brother Gene Dyson and sister Edna Mae Imes.
He received his diploma from Carver High School, Vocational Course in 1955. Richard is a Veteran of the United States Army. In 1968, Richard became the first African American Policeman for the City of Rockville.
He was a bus driver for Montgomery County Public Schools. Owner of his own business Dyson’s Inc. He served as a volunteer for the Rockville Fire Department. He was a Mason member in Pythagors Lodge #74, PHA.
Richard Eugene Dyson wore many hats in our family. He will be greatly missed as the matriarch of this family. There are few who didn’t call on him for help and he was always there. He didn’t want shouting and crying and he wanted us to show him love and respect.
