Richard Elsbecker, age 87, of Algona passed away on December 19, 2019 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Richard Henry Elsbecker, the son of Clemens and Bertha (Blocker) Elsbecker, was born on May 4, 1932 in Bancroft, Iowa. On February 26, 1975 Richard was united in marriage with Norene Nieuwenhuis in Sioux Falls, SD. Richard had worked as a truck driver and ran the Redimix plant from 1976-80. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Richard enjoyed sports, baseball, farming and driving truck. Left to cherish Richard’s memory is his wife of 44 years, Norene of Algona; step children, Thom and Sue Berger of Clear Lake, Marvin and Linda Hansen of Fenton and Peter De Boom of Whittemore; 11 step grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Elsbecker, Philip (Geraldine) Elsbecker and Maurice (Charlene) Elsbecker all of Bancroft; a sister, Mary Lou Hayden of York, NE; a brother-in-law, Vernon (Vione) Nieuwenhuis of Granville, IA; and a sister-in-law, LaVerna Stennett of Hot Springs, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joyce Elsbecker; a step son, Robert De Boom; and a sister, Betty Jergens.
