Richard “Dick” Earnest Simms 83, of Arthurdale passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Heartland of Preston County. He was born December 28, 1925 in Reedsville a son of the late Noel Hoyt and Daisy Pearl (Trowbridge) Simms.
He was a mason by trade and had worked for Sterling Faucet, Industrial Contractors of Fairmont, and Buckeye Construction a division of Greer. He operated Simms Woodcrafts and also produced all types of fishing lures and flies.
Dick attended Kanes Creek United Methodist Church.
He is survived by: one son Richard “Rick” Andrew Simms of Arthurdale; three daughters Victoria “Vicki” DeSantis of Points, Judy Wheeler of Kingwood, and Donna Reynolds of Wind Ridge, PA; two sisters Violet Robinson of Point Marion and Virginia “Jenny” Wilson of Gassaway; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Geraldine “Jerry” Wolfe of Arthurdale; and good friend Louise Dalton.
He was preceded in death by his wife Opalee June (Wolfe) Simms; five brothers; and two sisters.
