Richard W. “Dick” Draper, 75, of Fairmount, died, Friday, October 22, 2021 at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Dick was born on September 30, 1946 in Marion, Indiana, son of the late Edward Phillips and Mary Lorena (McCone) Draper. He attended Fairmount schools and served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Dick retired from Fisher Body. He married Jennifer L. Morgan on January 7, 1980. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2017. Dick enjoyed family gatherings and hanging out with his boys, grandsons Alex and Isaac. You could often see Dick riding his golf cart through the park or through town, stopping to hang out and drink coffee with his buddies or just people watch, always with a friendly wave and a smile. He also liked watching westerns, cooking shows, word search puzzles, and bluegrass music.
Dick is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Doug Ferren) Small, Marion and Christy (Steve) Sherman, Fairmount; brother, James (Kaye) Draper, Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Alex and Isaac Skinner, Trevor Mart, Aubrey, Austin, Amelia and Ameera Ferren. Dick also had several special nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Mary Jo Skinner, brother, Jack Draper, sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Fred “Barney” Barnhart, and sister, Mary Jane Draper.
