Richard O. Lee, 49 year resident of Glendora, passed away after years of heart related problems on August 17, 2013 at Methodist Hospital of Arcadia at the age of 81. He was the son of Otto and Maren Lee, both natives of Norway.
Dick was born in Los Angeles, growing up in Glendale. A life-long supporter of the USC Trojan football team, playing on the team for one year and attending USC for two years prior to entering the US Air Force flight school in 1954 becoming a jet fighter pilot.
In 1957, he affiliated with the Lee and Daniel Steel Fabrication as a co-owner with his older brother, Jack. Dick was a past president of the Structural Fabricating Association of Southern California; a former member of the Rotary Club of Glendora; and long time member and golfer at Glendora Country Club.
He married his wife of 55 years, Barbara, in 1958, moving to Glendora in 1964 where they raised their sons. Dick was active in Little League as a manager for 15 years, coaching teams that become All-Star champions.
Dick and Barbara enjoyed traveling throughout the world and shared their adventures, recommendations and advice with their many appreciative travel friends. Both were active supporters of many Glendora community organizations and charitable foundations.
A wonderful friend to many, Dick and his close friends enjoyed lunch together almost every day at the Village Vault in Glendora; as he had with his beloved brother, Jack C. Lee, who preceded him in death in 2011.
In addition to Barbara, the love of his life, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Cyndi; son, Roderick; and seven grandchildren, Geoffrey, Melissa, Cynthia, Harrison, Hunter, Gregory and Matthew.
