Richard “Dick” Douglas Westover, 79, of Humble, Texas, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away May 5, 2021, at the VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
Dick was born July 1, 1941, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Ernest Cecil Westover and Florence Hansen Westover. He graduated from Snake River High School and also attended Idaho State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
In June of 1967, Dick was drafted to serve his country in the US Army. He served during the Vietnam War where he earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals. He continued to serve his country and reached the rank of Major.
On September 10, 1965, he married Charlet Earlene Mendel in the Salt Lake City Temple. Dick and Charlet made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he worked as an accountant for Alpine Heating and Air Conditioning.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Charlet Westover of Humble, TX; daughter, Shey (John) Moniz of Humble, TX; daughter, Tira (David) Cheney of Fairfax, VA; daughter, Mya (Jason) Rhodes of Saint George, UT; son, Rick (Heather) Westover of Humble, TX; honorary daughter, Melanie (Darwin) Arnold of Kamiah, ID; 27 grandchildren, Brennan (Madeline), Mariah, Nikolaas, Noah, Kimara, Joseph, Lena, Elizabeth, David, Jonathan, Brendan, Alison, Elisabeth, Kaytlin, Jasmine, Jaycee, Ammon, Courtnee, Jack, Elizabeth, William, Lana, Rhyson, Zara, Kyliauna, Dartanian, and Tyndareus; and one great grandchild, Clayton. Also 1 brother, Robert (Donna) Westover of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cecile Staker; two brothers, Phil and Gayland Westover, and son-in-law, Craig Wright.
