Richard Dean Morrison, 74, of Lebanon, CT, husband of Joyce (Eldridge) Morrison, died on July 16, 2019 at Backus Hospital in Norwich. Born Dec 16, 1944, son of the late John W. and Lila (Davis) Morrison.

We lost a unique man with a contrasting character. He had a big soft mustache and a sharp tongue. He had a rock-hard opinion and a kind open heart. He had a black belt, in unconditional love. He was fiercely independent yet curiously concerned with personal connections. Richard held a wide variety of jobs throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force, managed many businesses but most notably he was the owner and operator of The Ice Cream Shop on 223 Main Street in Norwich with his wife Joyce. He loved American Sign Language, genealogy, literature and gardening. Most of all he loved teasing people, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his beloved wife Joyce of 55 years, he is survived by his children, Rex and Corinne (Conley) Morrison, Scott and Kari (Morrison) Lake, Andrew and Brenda (Esponda) Morrison. His grandchildren, Lila Lake, Jake Poulin, Andie, Ace, James, Mackenzie and Jordis Morrison, Ashley Harvey, Shelby Merchant, and his great granddaughter Nataley Poulin.

He was predeceased by his daughter Heidi, his grandson Andrew Jr., his siblings John, Donald, Wayne, Marilyn, Susan and Corinne.
