Richard Seeley, 62, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Maryland. He was surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Seeley; daughter Sarah English and her husband, Jesse English; daughter Lisa Seeley and her husband, Kevin Maffey; brother Stan Seeley and his long-time partner Diane Wollenweber; brother Jeff Seeley; brother Dennis Seeley and his wife, Regina Seeley; also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and co-workers.
Rich was born in Middletown, New York to Charles and Audrey Seeley. He graduated from Pine Bush High School where he enjoyed being on the swim team. He went on to Orange County Community College where he studied and also worked in the Audio Visual Department. He then took a telecommunications job in Erie, Pennsylvania where he would meet his wife, Rita. Rich and Rita moved to Maryland in 1985 and raised their two daughters in Columbia, Maryland.
During his 40 years as a telecommunications technician, Rich kept up with the changing industry, even completing specialized training in Arizona. Rich recently retired and had begun part-time consulting work.
Rich was a caring family man and he felt grateful that his two daughters remained close to home with their husbands.
He enjoyed being part of a community garden and was extra proud of his hot peppers and cherry tomatoes. He especially loved long walks around Lake Elkhorn and liked to travel, most recently to Las Vegas.
Rich will be remembered as a fun-loving, adventurous, and kind father, husband, brother, and uncle. He will be missed dearly by many.
