Richard Dale “Rick” Reed, 60, Greensburg, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis. Born, on January 30, 1958, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, he was the son of Harold Richard and Noretta June (Brown) Reed.

Rick was a 1976 graduate of Greensburg High School.  He then served in the US Army.  After his service he worked at Maddux Moving Storage and Auction, then many years at BCA, and then at Rexnard in Indianapolis.  Rick has enriched his family’s life more than can be realized. He was a very supportive, influential, caring, and sincere person. He was held in high esteem for being a solid father.

Rick enjoyed fishing and loved his coon dogs. Bless his heart, he was very passionate about politics and was an intelligent liberal living in a place surrounded by the opposite. He cared deeply about the underdog, injustice, family, and everyone’s right to just be whatever made them happy. His outspoken nature and his ability to speak his truth while surrounded by so many differing opinions were an inspiration. He always stood up for the truth, fairness, and equality.

He was married to Deborah Reed and she survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Melissa (Larry) Martin, Amanda (Elrod) Lohrum, and Crystal Rathburn all of Greensburg; two stepdaughters, Adrean Housh and Monica McIntire, both of Massachusetts; two sisters, Kathy (Kevin) Menkedick, Greensburg and Becky (Nathan) Conover, Holton; nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
