Richard D. “Dick” Washington, 73, of Anderson, went to heaven November 24, 2011 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after a sudden illness. He was born January 7, 1938 in Kokomo, IN, to Elmer and Thelma Eades Washington.
Richard graduated from Kokomo High School in 1955 and Acme Technical School in 1959. On May 4, 1958, he married Kristina A. Heavilin.
He worked for Delco in Kokomo and transferred to Guide in 1967, where he worked as a mold designer, until his retirement in 1992. He was an active member of First Friends church and volunteered for Harter House. Richard was an eye donor.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kristina A. Washington; beloved children, Gregory R. Washington, Teresa L. Jeff Dowers, Douglas E. Chris Washington, and Matthew T. Ginger Washington; grandchildren, Paul, Emily, Mark, Jessica, and Kenneth Washington, Kristina Tim Jones, and Stephen Dowers; and a great grandchild, Keeleigh Patton.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Stephen and Bruce Heavilin and infant granddaughter, Sarah Dowers.
