Richard Fredrick Cook, 79, of Plainville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday September 20, 2008 at Bristol Hospital.  He was the beloved husband to Donna (Brouker) Cook for 43 years.  He was born on March 6, 1929, son of the late Russell and Evelyn (Hempstead) Cook.

          Mr. Cook lived in Unionville for many years before moving to Plainville in 1998.  He served his country in the United States Naval Reserves.  He was employed for many years at the Superior Building Supply CO, formerly of Farmington, CT.  Mr. Cook “COOKIE” directed and ran the Lake Garda Fife & Drum Corp from 1950-1970 coordinating many fund raisers to support the Corp.  With spirit and dedication he led the Lake Garda Fife & Drum Corp to many victories and championships.  He was also a member of the Lake Garda Association. 

          He is survived by his wife Donna Cook of Plainville, and was a loving father to Mark Cook of Plainville and Allyn Cook and his wife Nancy of Auburn, WA.  He was predeceased by his sister Shirley Cook Brouker.
