Richard was born on October 22, 1945 north of Haxtun, Colorado to Richard Wilson and Betty Lou (Whited) Moon. He attended schools in Stoneham, Sterling, Colorado and Van Lou, Ohio.
He was a welder and worked at Wisdom Manufacturing. Richard was a member of Sterling Foursquare Church and was a strong believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He loved attending church and bible studies. He also loved spending time with his grandkids, family and friends.
He took pride in his yard and garden. Richard enjoyed raising the flag almost every day and loved the USA and what it stands for. He had a hobby making arrowheads out of most any kind of rock. He loved his dog “Harley” and enjoyed taking her for walks.
They were the best of friends. He married Valda Langdon on September 27, 1969 and were married for 51 wonderful years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Betty Moon and brother Kenneth Moon.
Richard is survived by his wife Valda, sons Rich Moon Jr. and wife Amy of Sterling, Joseph Moon and wife Rachel of Thermopolis, WY and Scott Moon and wife Christine of Sterling, CO; granddaughters Kayla and husband Kyle, Sharaiah, Andronna, and Michel Hernandez and husband Francisco; grandsons Aaron of Akron, CO, Jonathan and wife McCinna, Josiah and fiancée Nicki, and Micah all of Thermopolis, WY, Edison, London and William and wife McKayla all of Sterling, CO; great-grandsons Kamden, Kooper, Korybn and Kit all of Sterling, CO, Decker of Thermopolis, WY, Elijah of Oklahoma City, OK and Lucas of Sterling, CO;great-granddaughters Ali of Thermopolis, WY and Alyna of Oklahoma City, OK; brother Wilbur Moon and wife Myrna of Ft. Morgan, CO; sisters Wilma Dudden and husband Dale of Springfield, Missouri, Linda Grauberger and husband Denny of Fleming, CO; Deanna Lukens and husband Jerry of Wiggins, CO, Glenda Cook and husband Dick of Yuma, CO, Karla Cook and husband Bob of Yuma, CO and Marsha Saylor and husband Lyle of Sterling, CO and many nieces and nephews.
