He passed away at 3:32 a.m., Sunday, May 18, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born May 13, 1932, in Kokomo, he was the son of Henry J. “Heiny” and Marykay Panabaker Wolf. He was married Jan. 31, 1953, in Bloomington, Ill., to Grady Schlemmer, who survives.
A general contractor, Dick owned and operated Wolf Construction Co. and Wolf Supply and Equipment Co. in Logansport. He was the company foreman on various projects involving heavy concrete form work and framing. Dick later worked for Schenkel Schultz architectural firm of Fort Wayne. He was a member of the Associated General Contractors.
Dick graduated from Logansport High School in 1950. He then attended the University of Illinois School of Architecture in Urbana. His apprentice training was with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
Dick was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He served with the Engineering Battalion building steel-framed buildings around Seoul. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790.
At one time very active in the Logansport and Cass County community, Dick belonged to the Logansport Rotary Club, where he was past president. He was also a member of the Logansport Elks, Beta Theta Pi social fraternity, Logansport/Cass County Chamber of Commerce, Cass County Historical Society and Central Indiana Advancement Foundation, where he was past president.
He also served as board member and past president of Sangralea Valley Boys Home. From 1983 to 1991 he served on the Parents Executive Committee at Ball State University, where six of his children attended college.
He was a member of Logansport Jaycees, where he was past vice president. He was instrumental in retaining the carousel in Logansport.
Also active in Scouting for many years, Dick was past council commissioner, former vice president of operations and past executive board member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was presented the Silver Beaver award in 1970. He was a current member of Troop 227.
Surviving are children and their spouses, Mary K and Dante Raggio, Muncie, Karl and Cyndie Hurley Wolf, Schaumburg, Ill., Eric and Patti Ross Wolf, Logansport, JoAnne and Alan Tribbett, Lagro, Kurt Wolf, Lafayette, Ruth and Mike Freeman, Durham, N.C., Alice and Keith Morton, Carmel, Peter Wolf and his special friend, Lori DeLodge, Indianapolis, Paul and Anita Williams Wolf, Lebanon, and Linda and Kurt Paddock, Alexandria; sister-in-law and her husband, Marie Ann Schlemmer and Rollie Hill, Bloomington, Ill.; grandchildren, Christine Raggio Reinhardt and husband, Michael, 1st Lt. Alexander Raggio, Elizabeth Raggio, Erin Wolf Winegart and husband, Dan, Nathan Wolf, Garrett Wolf, Jordan Wolf, Allan Wolf, Jacob Wolf, Andrew Wolf, Evan Wolf, Katie Tribbett, Pvt. Ben Tribbett, Megan Wolf, Kyle Wolf, Matt Freeman, Sara Freeman, Philip Morton, Brian Morton, Houston Wolf, Colton Wolf, Alisha Paddock, Austin Paddock and Avery Paddock; great-grandchildren, Kate and Anthony Reinhardt; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Marilyn Wolf.
