Richard Atkins Harris, 72, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 22nd. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late Richard D. and Gladys (Hurlbut) Harris. Dick lived in Middletown all of his life and was employed by Southern New England Telephone for thirty years. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Dick was the collector of many things including stamps and Lionel trains and had a special love for the history of the Civil War and its battlefields. Dick will be remembered as a caring, loving and generous man. Dick is survived by his two sisters, Charlotte Karabin of Plainville and Margaret Stielau of Sarasota, FL; nieces and nephews, Patty and Marty Wozniak, Robin and Rick Boisclair, Rick and Annette Karabin, Wendy and Dave Dube, Donna and Tim Zapatka and Sue and Jeff Stewart along with several grand nieces, grand nephews and many dear friends.
