Richard Allen Owens USAF Ret., 75, of O’Fallon, IL passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, IL. Richard was born on July 21, 1939, in Salamanaca, NY.
He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 805 in O’Fallon, American Legion Fisher Post #139 in O’Fallon, and was a generous supporter of many non-profits. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and in his younger years, he loved hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene & Dorothy Owens, nee Rockwell; brother-in-law, Lotha Trapp; and mother & father-in-law, Heinrich & Louise Trapp.
Richard is survived by his wife, Melitta Owens, nee Trapp, of O’Fallon, IL, whom he married on January 31, 1961 in Hahn Air Force Base, Germany; daughter, Nattalie (Chad) Rusten of Minnetonka, MN; siblings, Carol Hasanove of Ocala, FL, John (Pat) Owens of Marion, SC, Duane (Karen) Owens of Killbuck, NY, Thomas Owens of Little Valley, NY, and James Owens of Killbuck, NY; grandchildren, Ava Rusten and Quinn Rusten; brother-in-law, Hartmut (Inge) Trapp of Germany; nieces, Claudia and Heike; and great-niece, Julia.
