Richard Aaron Brown

12/31/1954-10/8/2021.

In this crazy world, it’s probably hard to find many who have left this world in the same town they entered and all while doing one of their favorite activities. Our beloved Richard Aaron Brown is one of these few. While doing one of his lifetime favorite activities, riding his bicycle in Ogden City, Utah, he was suddenly swept away from this world on October 8, 2021, at the age of 66.

While our hearts naturally grieve, we find comfort knowing as soon as his soul departed this world, he was lovingly embraced by his beautiful mother Iris Elaine Grigg, and Father Harlo Brown. Along with his smiling big brothers Andrew Bruce (Andy), Melvin, and Sister-in-law Peggy Rose.

Having been a New Year’s Eve baby, Uncle Richard was born Friday, December 31, 1954, at the original McKay Dee Hospital. “The doctor thought I was going to be a girl but instead delivered a blond-haired boy.” Richard wrote for our family history journal. Of course, Richard only fooled the doctor because Grandma always knew she was going to have eight children and they would be all boys. He was number six. These eight boys included Grandpas, Melvin, and Duane, which she had told me one time, “that’s one of the reasons I knew I was supposed to marry your grandpa.”

The people he has left behind here on this earth include five of these eight men Grandma correctly knew she was going to mother; His surviving brothers are, Duane Mark, Sterling (Barbara), Grigg, Lane (Analee), younger brother and number eight, Paul Vern (Susan Darlene Ellis).  Sterling and Richard shared a special brother bond their entire life, and Sterling was always the protective brother to Richard and kept his best interest at heart. Uncle Richard was also a very loved Uncle, leaving behind many nieces and nephews, along with great-nieces and great-nephews.

Richard enjoyed cars and motorcycles, of course bicycling. Having such a gentle soul. He loved dogs and had his fair share of them throughout his life. For a while, he did enjoy dog breeding with Grandma. He greatly enjoyed and was talented at reupholstering furniture and building hot tubs. I think he just enjoyed building and creating in general, outside, fresh air, sunshine, and nature were the top of his favorite things he enjoyed.
