Richard A. Spencer, 83, of O’Fallon, IL passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021, at his residence. He was born November 3, 1937, in Greenfield, IL. A retired Air Force SMsgt. following a long and distinguished career, Richard was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, and Republic of Vietnam Honor medals during his service. After retiring from the Air Force, Richard continued his career as Director of Medical Records at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO for over 20 years. He was a member of the National Heisey Glass Collectors of America and also wrote books for collectible glass. Richard also liked to fish and hunt and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; Daniel Ray and Glenda Spencer (nee Plogger), and his brother; Louis Ray Spencer.Richard is survived by his beloved wife; Patricia Spencer (nee Woolfolk) of O’Fallon, IL, four children; Richard Eugene Spencer of Shiloh, IL, Theresa (Dan) Heil of O’Fallon, IL, Lyndell R. (Michelle) Spencer of O’Fallon, IL, and Katherine (Doug) Bien of Troy, IL, eight grandchildren; Shaun Spencer of O’Fallon, IL, Natalie Hughes of New York, NY, Sarah Federko of St. Louis, MO, Christen Doeschot of St. Louis, MO, Daniel Heil of St. Louis, MO, David Spencer of O’Fallon, IL, Candice Spencer of O’Fallon, IL, and Zane Spencer of St. Louis, MO, and four great-grandchildren; Ty Spencer, Ozzie Doeschot, Zella Hughes, and Cameron Heil.
