Richard A. Black, Sr. was born February 17, 1934 to Anthony Shilinsky and Genevieve Kirchner, later adopted by his grandparents, Ben and Lucy Black. He passed from this life May 1, 2014 at his home in Texas at the age of 80 years. Richard attended St. John’s Elementary school and Dowling High School in Des Moines, Iowa. He also attended Audit and Freight Transportation School in Chicago. Grandmother, Lucy Black strongly encouraged participation in St. John’s religious activities and education. He married Deloris Miller in 1952 and two children were born from this union, Richard Jr. and Denise.
