Richard C. Hughes, 68, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away August 12, 2020, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital. Rich was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, friend, son, and son-in-law. He loved everyone and was loved deeply in return by all his family.
Rich was born January 1, 1952, in Polson, Montana, to William Hughes and Agnes Perry Hughes. He grew up and attended school in Ronan, Montana, and graduated from Ronan High School. Following high school, Rich enlisted in the US Army and served stateside during the Vietnam War.
On October 30, 2003, he married Jan Larson McIsaac in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Rich and Jan made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where Rich worked at Melaleuca as a maintenance technician.
Of Rich’s many nicknames, his favorite was “Papa,” the name his grandchildren called him by. Papa loved to fish and looked forward to his annual fishing trips with his best friend, Todd Isaacson, his family, and friends. He loved to take his grandkids fishing, and they enjoyed the quality time with Papa as well. He loved to help others and would oftentimes be found taking his children and grandchildren to school, getting a special treat for his mother-in-law and other loved ones, or stashing candy in drawers or under pillows for children and grandchildren to discover. Rich was such a kind man and had a fun heart.
Rich is survived by his loving wife, Jan Hughes of Ammon, ID; daughter, Sandy (Vicky Scarlott) McIsaac of Idaho Falls, ID: step-sons, Ian (Sara) McIsaac of Albuquerque, NM, Ricky (Esmeralda) McIsaac of Ammon, ID, Dan (Jackie) McIsaac of Idaho Falls, ID, and Michael (Briana) McIsaac of Tonasket, WA; step-daughters, Jenny (Gary) Grant of Idaho Falls, ID, Charly (Anton Boyadjian) McIsaac of Turlock, CA, and Chrystal (Dustin) McDowell of Pueblo, CO; brothers, Chuck (Jeannie) Hughes of MT, Gary (Judy) Hughes of Missoula, MT, Bob Hughes of MT, and Bud Hughes of MT; nephew, Rich (Sue) Hughes of Willow Creek, MT; and 17 grandchildren.
