Ricardo “Dickie” Aragon, 77, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

He was predeceased by his father Gilo Aragon, mother Lucy Tapia, father-in-law Don Tapia and nephew Ronnie Rubio.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 years, Debra Aragon; daughter Crystal Aragon and son-in-law Michael Murphy; grandson Gilo Aragon Murphy; sister Francis “Kiki” Aragon; nieces: Lucira Rubio Ippolito, Gina Rubio Colclasure and her spouse Jerry Colclasure; great-nephews: Nicholas Ippolito, Kurt Colclasure, great-niece Adriana Moran, and great-grandnephew Nicholas Ippolito, Jr.

Ricardo worked as an Event Supervisor for the Albuquerque Convention Center for 25 years.

Ricardo was an avid boxing fan. He was deeply inspired by the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time, Muhammed Ali. In 1980, after months of persistence and hard work, Ricardo successfully brought Muhammed Ali to New Mexico to help raise money for a scholarship fund in the name of a late local boxer Vito Romero.

Out of the many accomplishments he had in his life, Ricardo was most proud of his role as a loving Father and devoted Husband; working tirelessly to build a happy life for his family. He and his soulmate Debra were inseparable; always talking to one another and making each other laugh. They enjoyed watching movies, going to the casino, and simply enjoying each other’s company.

His two phrases he would say when giving advice to others were: “Always be a leader, and never a follower” and “It’s important to be selfless, not selfish”.

He was a great man, Father and Husband, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he has touched.

He will be deeply missed.

Ricardo’s life celebration will begin with a Rosary to be recited on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 8:30am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church located at 820 Broadway Blvd. SE, 87102.
