Ricardo Aguilar, 59, entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 22, 2015.

He was born November 8, 1956 in San Benito, Texas.

Ricardo attended Los Indios Elementary School, San Benito Jr. High, and graduated from San Benito High School in 1975. He earned a B.S. degree from Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas and a Master of Education from UTB earning a Counselor certification and later earned his Principal certification.

Mr. Aguilar had the privilege of serving the students of San Benito C.I.S.D. for 32 years. His first position was as elementary coach at Frank Roberts Elem., he served as counselor at the same school and later as assistant principal. He also served as assistant principal at Landrum, Ed Downs, and lastly Rangerville. During his tenure as elementary coach, he also coached football at San Benito Jr. High and scouted for the Greyhounds under Tommy Roberts tenure.

He also served as Alderman for the city of Los Indios from 1995-2007.

Ricardo enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, enjoyed archery and participated in many tournaments and always managed to bring home a trophy. He thoroughly enjoyed riding motorcycles and his purple chopper. He and his wife cheered the San Benito Hounds at every football game and his last game was on Friday, Nov. 20th in Calallen, Texas. (Thank you Hounds for winning the game he attended.)

Mr. Aguilar was very generous with his time and devoted many hours to Jump for Heart, Walking for Alzheimer’s, Red Ribbon Week, and volunteered wherever needed.

Ricardo is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Juanita A. Aguilar, his sister, Blanca I. Montemayor.

He is survived by his loving wife Christina Cardenas Aguilar of 30 yrs., his brother Ruben Aguilar (Rosie) from San Benito, Texas; sister, Ysabel A. Rangel (Romulo) from Harlingen, Texas; and sister, Esther A. Fox (Dan) from Victoria, Texas. He is also survived by nieces, Heidi Aguilar, Alayssa Montemayor, and Romisa Rangel and nephews, Ruben Aguilar, Jr., Paul Aguilar, Gilbert Montemayor III and Frank, Sam, and Danny Pena. Grandniece Leiah Montemayor, grandnephews Isaiah Montemayor and Jeremy Aguilar Olvera plus many dear cousins, extended family, and many former staff and students whom he deeply respected.
