Ronda Gaye Allred
Ronda Gaye Anderson Allred returned to her Heavenly Father on Thursday, May 26, 2011, after many years of sickness. Her loving, devoted husband, Larry was by her side at her passing.
Gaye, as she was known, was born on July 18, 1948 in Afton, the daughter of Gilbert Wayne Anderson and Verda Louise Izatt. Her parent’s marriage was ended in June 1949, at which time Gaye and her mother returned to live with Gaye’s grandparents, Ira and Annie Izatt. In December 1949, Gaye got a new baby sister, who would be her best friend and playmate throughout her childhood.
On May 17, 1950, Verda married Bryan Leavitt. Gaye, being about 21 months old, wanted to remain with her pappy, as she called her grandpa. So she stayed with her grandparents until Verda and Bryan could get settled. They intended to take her with them later, but by the time that came it was just too hard for her to leave her grandparents and for her grandparents to let her go, so Gaye was raised by Ira and Annie until she married.
Gaye was a very artistic girl and learned to paint and do other crafts. She did a lot of embroidery work and did many tapestries. She made beautiful tapestry which is at the AA recovery meeting room in Afton. She learned to crochet sweaters and made many for family members.
Gaye started working at the age of 13 as a waitress at Fred’s Café in Afton and then later for the Golden Spur Café. She was a very dedicated and reliable worker and worked there until Alice Smith persuaded her to apply for an opening at the FHA Office where Alice worked. Gaye went to work for them and worked there for almost 20 years. Gaye made many friends and acquaintances during her many years of working with the public.
Gaye met the lover of her life in the sixth grade. She fell in love with him and his dark curly hair. They were married on Larry’s 19th birthday, Aug. 10, 1966 in Afton.
They were blessed with two children, Dixie Ann and Lael L. They also loved puppies and raised a lot of them along with their children.
When the doctors told them that they would not be able to have grandchildren from their daughter, Gaye and her Daughter Dixie flew to China and got a beautiful baby girl. Doctors aren’t always right and later their daughter had three more children.
Gaye was very proud of her grandchildren and always carried her grandma brag book with her to show everyone the latest pictures of her family.
She leaves behind her husband, Larry; daughter Dixie (Shane); grandchildren, Ryan; Chaya; Chase; Cade; and Chesney Hillstead; son Lael (Chris); grandchildren, Paul; Kassie; and Jenniver Woody Allred; sisters Kathy Walker; Carol Ann Long; Tena L. Williamson; brothers, Shaun ad Brett Leavitt.
