Rex Watters, 84, born July 20, 1927 to Herman and Agnes (Bagley) Watters, passed away with his family by his side on November 13th at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne, IN. He had 3 brothers and 1 sister: Henry Eugene (Lora) formerly of New Haven, IN (both deceased), Paul Edward (Sondra) of Ft. Wayne, IN and Walter Leroy (Connie) of Decatur, IN and Helen (George) Johnstone, formerly of North Manchester, IN (both deceased). He attended Central High School in Ft. Wayne until he volunteered for the service of his country. He served in the Navy during WWII from 1945-1947.

He married Patricia Carol (Barr) on November 20, 1948 in Ft. Wayne, IN and shared 64 years of wedded bliss. Rex is survived by his wife, Patricia. He was a loving husband and great father that always provided for her and their large family of 7 children; Rex II (Dana) Watters, of Bloomington, IN, Randy Watters of Warsaw, IN, Rene (Rick) Townsend of Warsaw, IN, Roxanne (Rick) Berghoff of Ft. Wayne, IN, Roseanne (Mike) Diamente of Pattaya, Thailand, Ricky (Diana) Watters of Warsaw, IN and Robin (Connie) Watters of Leesburg, IN.

Rex and Patricia had 21 grandchildren; Rachel (Josh) Robertson of Bloomington, IN, Rex III (Allison) Watters of Nashville, IN, Dr. Drew (Dr. Melissa) Watters of Bloomington, IN, Dawn Diamente of Indianapolis, IN, Neil Diamente of Tuscon, AZ, Daniela (Ignascio) Riveria de Rosales of Tuscon, AZ, Angela Diamente (Eric Smith) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Travis (Angie) Berghoff fo Westfield, IN, Tanya (Alan) Coltrain of  Indianapolis, IN, Tara Berghoff (Jayson Pestow) of Grainger, In, Sean (Kelly) Townsend of Ft. Wayne, IN, Scott (Joelle) Townsend of Woodburn, IN, Zach Watters (Melissa) of Warsaw, IN, Kalah Watters (Bobby Slocum) of Philadelphia, PA, Rick JR Watters (Rick Anderson) of Austin, TX, Eric Watters of Pierceton, IN, Crystal Watters of Indianapolis, IN, Annalyse Watters of Leesburg, IN, and step-grandchildren Jake, Kiara and Caleb Roatcap. They also have 23 great-grandchildren.

Rex was a hardworking man and at times worked 2 and 3 jobs to provide his family with a good home, food, clothing and vacations. He worked at Dana Spicer Axle, Joslyn Steel, Wonder Bread, Frank’s Tavern, Hoosier Tavern, Erie Haven Cement Co., managed Fox’s Tavern and Menu Meats before moving from Ft. Wayne to Warsaw. He was also a volunteer fireman for Wayne Township Fire Station 2 in Ft. Wayne for several years. He then bought his own business and was the owner of Rex’s Rendezvous in Warsaw, IN for 22 years.

Later in life he enjoyed traveling with his wife to many great places around the world and yearly trips to spen time with friends in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. He loved to just get in the car with Patricia and start roaming whether it was a planned trip or not. He liked taking the back roads and seeing the country. He loved watching birds and looking out onto the lake where they lived and he loved and fussed over their kitty. He was always warm and friendly to everyone, and always had a joke to make people smile, generous and giving. He will be missed by many!
