Rex Baker, 79, of Viola, Arkansas, passed away, Thursday, December 16, 2021, in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

He was born in Elizabeth, Arkansas, on February 22, 1942, son of the late Clarence and Cecil (Ross) Baker. Rex spent his life as a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was united in marriage to Mary J. Holstine on May 13, 1961, in Viola, Arkansas. During his working years, Rex worked for the Arkansas Forestry Department, farmed and did carpentry. He loved his job with the forestry division and enjoyed being Smokey the Bear. Rex was raised on a sawmill cutting lumber and found a love for woodworking. He made oak furniture and sold them all over the United States. Rex had a love for farming and raising cattle. Rex was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Elizabeth, Arkansas.

Rex is survived by his wife, Mary Baker of Viola, Arkansas; daughter, Treva Cotter and husband Gary of Gepp, Arkansas; sister, Helen Campbell and husband L.J. of Viola, Arkansas; grandchildren, Clay Ryan Cotter, Cayla Phillips, Dennis Carl Fregia, Jessie LeAnn Fregia and Peachy Sponer and two great grandchildren, Atticus Phillips and Braylnn Heikes.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julia Baker; parents, Clarence and Cecil Baker and brothers, Dale Baker, Howard Baker and Kenneth Baker.
