Passed away Friday morning, October 30, 2020 at his home. Rex was born September 14, 1951 in Kalamazoo the son of Thomas and Bessie (Dowell) Nelson. He was employed for 27 years with Borroughs Manufacturing as an advanced assembler. Rex enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Rex was a good samaritan helping at a car accident scene in 2002 when he was struck by a distracted driver. He survived with a traumatic brain injury. He was in the care of Progressive alternatives from 2005-2020 for his 24 hour care. Thank you to all the staff that provided him with exceptional care and treated him with respect and dignity.
He is survived by his children, Rex Nelson, Jr., Melissa (Jon) Kranz, Lacey Nelson; grandchildren, Troy, Tyler, and Ryan Nelson, Dylan, Chloe, and Mason LaBrie, Aiden, Jon P., and Sean Kranz, and Damien and Damiah Wilkins; his brothers, Ron Nelson, Roger (Brenda) Nelson, Allen (Diane) Nelson; and several nieces and nephews. Rex was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Keegan Nelson (3/3/01-3/5/01); and a brother, Gary Nelson.
