Revelle Carlisle Franklin Metcalf entered life in Morgan County, Alabama on September 3, 1949. She was the 12th child of the late Benjamin Franklin Carlisle and Gladys Carlisle. She attended school in the Decatur City School System, where she met and made many life-long friends. She was well known for cooking and loving her family.
Her knowledge of Christ Jesus was obtained early in her life. She attended the Church of God in Christ. She later moved her membership to Unity Baptist Church, where her son, the Rev. Patrick Franklin is Pastor.
Revelle met and married the late Rev. Frank Franklin, early in her life. To this union three wonderful children were born: the late Frank H. Franklin III, Rev. Patrick Franklin and Revelle Carlisle Thatch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Metcalf; son, Frank Franklin, III; sisters, Hazel Smith, Carolyn Carlisle and Edith Wilson; brothers, Redious Carlisle (her twin), Nadis Carlisle, Nathaniel Carlisle and Tommie Carlisle.
Revelle leaves to cherish her memory: a loving son, The Rev. Patrick Franklin (Delores) of Decatur; a loving daughter, Revelle Carlisle Thatch (Marvin) of Decatur; two sisters, Frances (Tommy) Orr of Huntsville, AL and Betty Jo Russell of Huntsville, AL; one brother, Benjamin Franklin Carlisle of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Gladys Carlisle of Decatur and Nancy Carlisle of West Palm Beach, FL; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
