Minister Willie Lawrence Foster, born June 19, 1953 in Hillsboro, Alabama, was the seventeenth child born to the union of Charles Foster, Sr. and Carrie Bankston Foster. He was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Decatur Morgan Hospital – Parkway Campus at the age of sixty-two. Preceding Willie home to heaven were his parents and siblings, Dora Lee, Eva Ruth, Ulestine, Lorene, Ethel, Charles, George, Gloria, Noah, and Melvin.
Willie professed his faith and accepted Christ at an early age and joined David Temple P.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie J. Swoopes. He accepted his call to ministry in the early eighties. He later joined Grace River Community Church, under the leadership of Pastor Barry Sempsrott. Willie was a retired employee with Metro National in Nashville, TN.
He was married August 31, 1975 to Catherine Paige. To this union one daughter,Cassandra Foster was born.
Minister Willie Lawrence Foster leaves behind to cherish his memory: one daughter, Cassandra Foster, of Toledo, OH; three grandchildren, Ka’Teesha McCauley, Ja’Nyah Burt, and Robert Wells, Jr., all of Toledo, OH; siblings left behind to treasure Willie’s memory are Mary Armstrong, of Nashville, TN; Mildred Fields, of Chicago, IL; Marion Key, of Cleveland, OH; Vivian (Freddie) Garner of Town Creek, AL; Dr. Edwena (Wilbert) Watkins; Bishop Curtis (Deloris) Foster, both of Hillsboro, AL and Rev. Samuel (Janet) Foster, of Athens, AL. Willie was loved by his nieces, nephews, cousins, along with a host of other loving relatives and kind friends.
