Rev. Robert “Bob” Edward Smith, 64, of Grafton passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Grafton City Hospital with his wife by his side. Bob was born July 14, 1952 in West Point, Georgia, son of the late Clifford and Helen Smith. He is survived by his wife, Milagros “Mila” Jesena Smith. Bob graduated from Lanett High School in Lanett, Alabama, and from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, where he majored in Religion. After college, he studied Church Administration at Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, KY. He pastored several First Christian (Disciples of Christ) churches in various states including Jackson, MS and Grafton, WV. He also worked as a house parent at Berkside Children’s Home in Charleston, WV. To friends and family, he is a loving husband, an avid reader of books, a compendium of historical knowledge especially the Civil War, and a keen custodian of his family genealogy. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by one sister, Betty Beard of Fort Walton Beach, FL; nephew, Luke Keller and wife Ashley and their sons, Gavin and Ryker of Fort Bragg, NC; nieces, Jenny Jacka of Destin, FL; Harley Beard of Vancouver, WA; Rosie Beard of Orlando, FL; Stepchildren, Betsy Lutero and husband Carlo of Springfield, NJ, Emgee Meloto-Holness and husband Hugh of Woodbridge, NJ, Charisse Meloto and husband Lou Dilorenzo of New York, NY, Tina Hutchinson and husband Michael of Pinehurst, NC; step grandchildren, Carlo, Hannah, Sophia, Jacqueline, Katherine and Thomas.
