The Reverend Percy Lee Jackson was born October 31, 1937 in Mt. Hope, Alabama to the late Willie Irvin Jackson and Annie Bell Cannon Jackson.  He departed this life on December 22, 2015.

Rev. Jackson received his formal education from the Lawrence County School System. He obtained his Associate Degree from Calhoun Community College and his Bachelor’s Degree from Miles College.

He was employed with Wolverine Tube for over 35 years as a Group Leader in the Casting Department.

He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rock Springs C. P. Church in Mt. Hope, Alabama.  He later united with Mt.th Episcopal District of the CME Church in Alabama. He served as Presiding Elder for 18 years and pastored the following churches: Real Chapel, Guin, AL, Words Chapel, Haleyville, AL, Oak Grove, Athens, AL, Frazier Chapel, Athens, AL, Armstead Chapel, Florence, AL, New Jones, Decatur, AL, Jackson Chapel, Courtland, AL and Pine Grove, Huntsville, AL.  He was the founder of Percy L. Jackson Theological Institute in Courtland, Alabama.

He served in many community and civic organizations. He was Past Worshipful Master of Corinthian Masonic Lodge #42, Hartselle, AL, and was currently affiliated with Ascension Lodge #72, Worthy Patron of Deborah Chapter #15 OES of Hartselle, AL and a member of Elizabeth Chapter #40 OES of Decatur, AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kelvin Jackson.

He is survived by: his wife, Martha Herring Jackson; children, Kimette Jackson, Margarita Stewart (Danny Tapscott), of Decatur, and Umeki Jackson of Hartselle, Karone Jackson of CA, and Donald Jackson of Huntsville; grandchildren, Jariah Webb (Corbett) of Oneonta, Nakia Jackson of Hartselle, and Kayla Jackson, Athens; a host of other grandchildren; a sister, Shelvy Wilson, Cleveland, OH; sister-in-law, Vera Jackson, Moulton, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
