The Rev. John Wesley Jerving, 63, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Passavant Area Hospital.
He was born June 11, 1950, in Sheboygan, WI, the son of Wesley K. and Arlene Jurk Jerving. He was married to Diane Davis and she survives in Springfield.
He is also survived by two daughters, Nicole Jerving of Denver, CO, and Kristine (husband, Kurt) Frank of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joy Simon.
Pastor Jerving received his Master’s Degree from Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston. He had ministered at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church in Springfield, the Pioneer Parish in the Jacksonville area, and was currently serving the First Congregational Church in Beardstown.
John’s passions were cooking, the Green Bay Packers and “making sawdust”. His friends were very important to him, and he never met a stranger.
