Rev. Joe D. Lister, 86, of Mebane died at Moneta Springs Memory Care at Twin Lakes Community on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 12:00 p.m.
A native of Spartanburg, SC, he was the husband of the late Judy Lister and the son of Lowell Talmadge Lister and Flossie Steadman Lister, both deceased. Rev. Lister retired as a minister serving 40 years in both the Baptist and United Methodist ministries. He was Pastor Emeritus of Swepsonville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rev. Cynthia K. Lister of Haw River; niece, Terry Bridges and husband Vance of Spartanburg, SC; great-niece, Amber Maddox of Rock Hill, SC; great-great-niece, Ava Faulkenberry of Rock Hill, SC. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Louise Lynch.
