Henry “Harrison” Anderson, III was born June 10, 1942 and passed away on November 11, 2022 at the age of 80 years old. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the parents of Dr. Henry Harrison Anderson, Jr. M.D. & Ella Mae Anderson, R.N. who were great pillars of the Atlanta community.
“Harrison” as we affectionately called him went to school in the Atlanta Public School System and was a graduate of the illustrious Class of 1959 at Henry McNeal Turner High School. After graduation from high school Harrison attended Morehouse College, thereafter he was almost drafted into the military. Next, he attended Fort Valley State University and graduated with a degree in Social Work.
As Harrison entered the workforce he worked for the City of Atlanta and was the Center Director for Economic Opportunity Atlanta (EOA) for many years. Mr. Anderson was a community activist that worked in many low-income areas to make sure that the needs of the community were met and he bettered the quality of life for many constituents.
Harrison was also, an avid tennis player who played with Arthur Ashe and coached many children in the Southwest Atlanta community at the tennis center at John A. White Park.
Harrison leaves behind 2 daughters (Dr. Alieka Anderson & Dr. Sonya Anderson) and 1 son (Dr. Henry Harrison Anderson, IV M.D.).
Henry Harrison Anderson, II was a father, husband, community activists, and a mentor to many in the Southwest Atlanta & Willis Mill Community. He was a pillar in the community who loved to talk and spoke up for many issues in the community and helped many people so their voices could be heard.
