Reverend Gennell Wilkerson, 75, died on Saturday, July 6, 2013 in her Siler City home surrounded by her children.
Rev. Wilkerson, an ordained Elder in the A. M. E. Zion Church, was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Spencer and Harvey Alston, and the granddaughter of Geneva McClain Spencer, who raised her. She was married to Carl Fred Wilkerson, Sr. from September 26, until his death in 1983. Rev. Wilkerson was also an extraordinarily active woman in the life of her family, her community and her church.
Survivors include four children, three daughters (Delena, Bonita and Brenda) and one son (Anthony), fourteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
