Reverend Dr. Gail Keeney Mulligan, 61, of Aurora, Colorado, died after a lengthy battle with Frontal Temporal Dementia also known as Pick’s Disease. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker Colorado.
Gail was born May 6, 1956, and died January 24, 2018.
Gail was born and raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming; and graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1974. She received her Bachelors degree in Social Work from the University of Wyoming; her Masters of Divinity from Bexley Hall Seminary in Rochester, New York; and her Doctorate of Ministry from New York Theological Seminary in New York City.
Gail was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 1984.

She served on numerous commissions and committees, some of which include: Diocesan of New York Women’s Ministry Commission; Anti-racism and Liberation, Theology Commission; Liturgical Coordination for the House of Bishops in Panama City; The Anglican Women’s Empowerment; Episcopal Urban Caucus; Coordinator of New Milford Inter-faith Clergy Association; Board of Saint Francis House, New London, Connecticut; Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut Anti-racism committee; and Bloomfield Interfaith Clergy Association.
Gail married the love of her life, Fr. James Mulligan, in 1985. Together they adopted their two amazing children, Katalina and James Paul Keeney-Mulligan, later to be joined by their adult brother Derrick Baptist.
Gail’s real passion in life was her work for social justice. She gave voice to the marginalized and disenfranchised, from the Catskill areas of New York working with migrant workers to Central America helping to bring medicine/medical treatment to the rural areas of Nicaragua to United Nations fighting for the basic human rights for women around the world. Gail’s Ministry not only impacted those she came in direct contact with, but inspired others to continue the work.
Gail leaves us now equipped and empowered with the spiritual tools to continue the work she has started. “God is the master builder, I’ve done what I can do here. What comes next is for the next builder.”
Gail is survived by her daughter Katalina Mulligan and spouse Kendra of Aurora, CO ; son James Paul Keeney-Mulligan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son Derrick Baptist of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one grandson Curtis Baptist of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her mother Jean Keeney of Castle Rock, Colorado; brother Lane Keeney and spouse Grace of Gillette, Wyoming; and sister Dawn Keeney Koltiska and spouse Robert of Franktown, Colorado. She is survived by four nieces and nephews and one great niece. She is preceded in death by her husband, James A Mulligan, and her father Allen L Keeney.
