DURHAM- Rev. Dr. Darrell C. Pond, 76, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home.
Rev. Dr. Pond was born December 11, 1944 to the late Rev. Harold Pond and Alberta in River Hebert, Nova Scotia. He was educated at East Texas Baptist University, Dallas Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Rev. Dr. Pond spent 42 years in the ministry in Texas, Saint John, N.B., North Carolina and India. He was a professor of communications at Campbell University and North Carolina State University. Rev. Dr. Pond will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Rev. Dr. Pond is survived by his wife, Debra Pond; son, Matthew C. Pond (Marilena) of Scottsdale, AZ, stepson, David Lewis (Sarah) of Cary; sister, Uharda McClare (Jim) Frederiction New Brunswick (N.B); grandchildren, Abby Pond, Hayden Pond, step-grandchildren, Cameron Lewis, Austin Lewis, Hailey Lewis and Evelyn Lewis.
Darrell was predeceased by his former wife Patsy (Taylor) Pond.
After retirement, he became a member of Plainview Baptist Church, Durham, NC
