Rev. Donald O. Wesener, age 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 12, 2018.
Donald Otto Wesener was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on July 10, 1930, to Otto and Marie (Haack) Wesener. He was baptized into the Christian faith on August 19, 1930, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, WI.
He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and in September 1944 he enrolled at Concordia College, Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Concordia – Milwaukee and in September 1950, he enrolled at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from the Seminary in June 1956.
During his seminary years he did his summer fieldwork at the Gospel Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and his vicarage at Cross Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, WI.
After his graduation from the Seminary he served churches at Holstein, Nebraska, as well as Milwaukee, Glenwood City, Boyceville, Tigerton, Gleason, and Wis. Rapids/Kellner, WI. He then moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, and served until his retirement in 1992.
He met his wife, Doris (nee Gothberg) in Milwaukee and they were married on June 18, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Merrill, WI. This marriage was blessed with four children: Barbara (Carl) Nelson of Plymouth, WI, David (Phyllis) of Prairie du Chien, WI, Cynthia (Timothy) Gould of Phillips, WI, and Jonathan (Regina) of Fremont, CA.
Left to mourn his loss are his wife of 62 years, his four children and their spouses, and three grandchildren: Steven Gould of Eau Claire, WI, and Jade and Kai Wesener of Fremont, CA.
His father and mother and two sisters, June Kretzschmar and Marjorie Hornes, preceded him in death.
