He was a graduate of Saint Margaret Elementary School, Wilby High School and Champlain College and worked at Kelly Transit Company in Torrington before entering Saint Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland.
Father Monnerat was ordained on February 13, 1988 at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph by the Most Reverend John F. Whealon, Archbishop of Hartford.
Father Monnerat was a devoted brother, uncle and nephew to his loving family. He is survived by four brothers and five sisters-in-law, Mark and Susan Monnerat of Bristol, Michael and Theresa Monnerat of Waterbury, Stephen and Patricia Monnerat of Wolcott, Thomas and Maria Monnerat of Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Laura Monnerat of Watertown; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Philip Boucher of Ellington and Mary and Antone Grimshaw of Waterbury; three aunts, Kathleen Brennan of Massachusetts, Sister Rita Dressell of Waterbury and Jeanette Sullivan of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Monnerat and a niece, Kara Monnerat.
