Retha Virginia Smith, 65, of Thornton, passed away with her loving family by her side on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Upshur County, September 21, 1951 a daughter of the late Mabel Mitter Powell and raised by her very special aunt, the late Hazel Powell Streets.
Retha loved life and to be with her family.
She is survived by, three children, Gloria Campbell and companion Mike Gray, Rhonda Jean Naylor, all of Grafton, and Jerry Ray Campbell, Jr. Thornton, and their Dad, Jerry Ray Campbell, Sr, Thornton; six grandchildren, Aaron Gray, Michaela Gray, Jonathan Campbell, RayAnna Campbell, Ciara Gray, Sarah Campbell; one sister, Lorraine “Kate” Callahan, Maryland.
In addition to her mother and aunt she was preceded in death by one son, Aaron Campbell; one sister, Emma Jean Owens, two brothers, Buck Mitter, and Pete Mitter.
