Reta Young, 88, of Deer Park Township, died Monday evening, January 7, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Reta was born on August 25, 1924, in Ottawa, to George and Marguerite (O’Brien) Crank. She graduated Ottawa Township High School in 1942. She married Arthur H. Young on January 5, 1947 at First Baptist Church Parsonage in Ottawa. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce for 21 years until her retirement. Reta was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ottawa.
She is survived by a daughter, Laura Murphy, of Pontiac, a son Stephen (Sally) Young, of Deer Park Township, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a sister, Norma (Joseph) Armstrong, of Grand Ridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, a daughter, Marlene Zepeda and a brother, Melvin Crank. Pallbearers will be: Tom, Dan and Pat Murphy, Ben and Mike Zepeda and Rich Hauger.
