Renee M. Funderburk, 42, of Elkhart, was called home to be with her Lord after a long battle with an extended illness on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Elkhart on October 26, 1977 to Robert “Bob” and Wanda (Armstrong) Funderburk who both survive her at home.
Renee is also survived by her children, Amanda Funderburk, Lunden Johnson, and James “JJ” Williams; brother, Rob (Gretchen Kalwinski) Funderburk; and her loving brothers and sisters in Christ from Living Faith Church.
Renee was a loving, kind, strong, and independent woman who gave back to others in her community as a servant leader. She was an active member of Freestyle, an outreach ministry of Living Faith Church, where she served as an administrative assistant. Renee was an avid volunteer for Bashor Children’s Home and The Post, where she inspired and empowered countless young women to overcome challenges and succeed in life. Renee loved music, and was the manager for Light Rider Music, a life-inspiring Christian hip hop record label. Anyone who knew her would say that she was a loving mother who loved her children unconditionally. Renee was the kind of woman that was not afraid to be outspoken, was selfless, generous, authentic, an amazing caregiver, non-judgmental, and overall a fun and inspiring woman. She made an indelible impact in her community and family that will never be forgotten. Renee will be dearly missed.
