It is with great sadness that the family of René Ramon Leal announces his passing after years of a broken heart, on Tuesday, May 2, 2018, at the age of 72 years. René will be lovingly remembered by his children: Angela Ruth Leal Parker (Edward), John R. Rodriquez, Denise A. Wolf (Craig), Judy Delgado (Steve), Baby Ann Rangel (Noah Brown), Samantha Peacock (Leroy), and Michael René Leal. René will also be fondly remembered by his 16 grandchildren, Melissa, Deborah, Rebecka, Bethany, Cody, Ashley, Colton, Landon, Kirsten, Kelsey, Paige, Judah, Skyler-Kane, Selma, Leroy III, and Levi; by his brother, Dr. Enrique A. Leal III (Lisa); and by his sister, Marilyn Leal.
René was a very simple country boy who was an amazing father, brother, husband and friend. He never knew a stranger. He was born on December 7, 1945 to Lucille Leal and was adopted at the age of 17 by Enrique A. Leal II. René grew up in Boerne where he was a football hero for the Boerne Greyhounds from 1961-1963. He was the youngest barber college instructor in the state of Texas when he was 20 years old. René went on to follow in his mother’s footsteps and became a Registered Nurse (RN) for over 40 years. During his time nursing at SASMH, René met and married the love of his life, Alice. Between the two, they built a caring, loving, and at times very chaotic home in Boerne raising eight children, and had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
René was proceeded in death by the love of his life of 32 years of marriage, Alice Louise Rangel-Leal; his father, Enrique A. Leal II; his mother, Lucille Angela Leal; and his son, Brandon Ramon Leal. He will be loved and missed dearly.
