Renae Joy Behrens, 70, of Bethlehem, entered the more immediate presence of her Lord on Thursday, February 16, 2017, while in the care of St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem. She was the wife of Dr. Peter J. Behrens. They celebrated 22 years of marriage last May.
Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of Henry “Hank” Kudzik of Catasauqua and the late Jacqueline (Boemio) Kudzik. Renae graduated from Fountain Hill High School, earned her BA from Moravian College and her Master’s degree from Lehigh University. She later graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Renae was an R.N. for the Allentown State Hospital, and previously worked in the Community Relations Department at Bethlehem Steel. She was a member of Central Moravian Church, where she served as Sacristan and volunteered in the Nursery. She also volunteered at the Bethlehem Emergency Shelter and was a Friend of the Moravian Archives.
Survivors: surviving with her husband, Peter, and her father Hank, are her daughters, Jesse Mead of Allentown and Hillary Mead of Portland, Oregon; and Peter’s son’s, Stephen J. Behrens, his wife, Melinda and their children, Jonathan and Alexis of Coopersburg; and Thomas P. Behrens and his wife and their daughter, Charlotte of Newburgh, NY; her sister, Wanda Frecks of San Diego, CA and her children Amanda Santifer and Adam Cunningham; and Peter’s sister, Betty Steffen and her husband, Rick of Arlington Heights, Il.
