It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Remus Finau of Anchorage, AK on January 6, 2019 at the age of 74.
Remus was born in Arad, Romania and immigrated to the United States after defecting from communist Romania in 1984. He initially worked on a fox farm in Wasilla, AK and when the business could not afford to pay its employees, Remus continued to work without pay tending to the critters out of pity for their lives. A few years later he changed careers and worked in the hospitality industry until his retirement in 2009. He was proud to be called an American and enjoyed living in the beauty of south-central Alaska. A dashing gentleman, Remus was known for his infectious kindness, charm, stylish silk suits and expensive colognes. He was a true sentimental and hopeless romantic, and radiated a magnetism with the ladies. As a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge, he was always available to help those in need and served his friends generously with his time and genuine deeds of caring.
Along with his love for people, Remus passions included professional darts and boxing. He will be missed by all his family and friends around the country and across the world. He is survived by his sons Marius Jean-Luc Albert, Flavius Finau, and Daniel Finau, his grandchildren Anthony Finau, Katelyn Finau, and Alexandra Finau, and his friends schnauzer – Rebel.
