Reinhold (Knoby) Knoblich, 93, formerly of Kerrville, Texas, died November 9, 2012 in Georgetown, Texas. He was born January 20, 1919 to Andrew and Maggie (Schaffer) of Turtle Lake, North Dakota. He enlisted in the Army at Fort Lewis, Washington in 1941 and served in the South Pacific Theater. He was given the Bronze Battle stars for participation in the Guadalcanal, Northern Salomons, and Philippine Liberation campaigns. He was also given the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and was authorized six oversea service bars. After his military duty, he worked as an electrician for the Naval Civil Service at Oak Harbor, Washington as well as in Minneapolis, Minnesota until he retired in 1969. In 1970, he worked for the Education Department of Minneapolis as an electrician and retired from there in 1982. He married Susie Biggs in 1983. In 1985, Reinhold and Susie moved to San Antonio, Texas. They also lived in Boerne, Center Point, Kerrville, and finally in Georgetown, Texas. Reinhold volunteered at the Rainbow Senior Center in Boerne for many years. He was a member of the American Legion in Center Point, Texas. He was also a member of the VFW in Boerne and Kerrville and the Disabled American Veterans in Kerrville. He never forgot his comrades who served alongside him in the military. Family and friends will always remember his spirited wartime stories. Known for always having a smile on his face, he considered strangers just friends he had yet to meet. He is survived by his wife Susie, one sister Viola Smith of Tacoma, Washington, two step-sons Linn (Carol) Biggs of Georgetown, Texas and Richard (Pat) Biggs of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, one step-daughter Rita (David) Kampa of Groton, South Dakota, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Jan; four sisters Mary, Edna, Lydia, Olga; and brother Edwin.
