Reginald Van Cooper, also known as, “Reggie,” was born on July 20, 1972 in Denver, Colorado, to his parents, Donnie Cooper and the late Mary Linda Mitchell.
Growing up, Reggie loved music, cars, sports and playing basketball. He loved playing football in the streets with his brother and the all the other kids in the neighborhood. He always enjoyed playing tricks on his little sister and his mom.
As an adult, he loved picking up his kids on the weekends and playing with them, taking them shopping and buying them both remote control cars. He refused to buy his daughter dolls and anything girly. He wanted her to grow up “tough”. He enjoyed playing catch with his son in the front yard. He also enjoyed trying to bar-b-que on the grill, even though he thought he was a pro at it.
Reggie knew a lot about warehouse work and was a very hard dedicated worker. He was a supervisor for 2 years at SR Originals. He was very respected and loved by everyone that he worked with.
Reggie was always the life of any party or get together that he attended. Definitely unforgettable. The most famous thing you would ever hear him say was, “Shoooo.” If you never heard him say that then you really didn’t know him.
His best friend was the late Nathan Jenkins. If you see one, then you saw the other. Like twins or two peas in a pod Reginald Van Cooper departed this life on April 12, 2019. He is survived by his two children, Jahmell Franklin and Danayshia Franklin, both of Denver, CO; his older brother, Tony Mitchell of Dallas, TX; a baby sister, Shelanda Mitchell-Minaya of Denver, CO; 2 half-sisters, Kimberly Roberts and Constance Roberts, both of Denver, CO; 2 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and many friends.
