Following his first four years of enlistment, he enjoyed a 30 day leave period where we returned to Rayville, Louisiana, acquired a vehicle from his father’s employer at Scott Tractor, purchased a ring from Dupont Jewelers and traveled to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where he asked for Barbara’s hand in marriage. Reggie and Barbara were married one month later in El Paso, Texas and honeymooned in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
45 days later, Reggie shipped out to the Canadian Providence of Labrador and was away from his new bride for most of their first two years of marriage. In 1957, his entire squadron relocated to Great Falls Montana for 3 years. His sons John Peter joined the family in 1959 and David Alan followed in 1961. The family relocated to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico in 1962 and soon after in 1963, Mary Ella joined the family. During his time in Puerto Rico, Reggie flew C54 courier flights for the US Air Force.
