Reginald Lee “Slim” Bolden departed this life on February 18, 2016 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.  He was born the son of the late Marjorie Bolden-Collins and the late Benjamin Haynes.

Reginald received his formal education in the public schools of Dorchester County, MD. He was in the class of 1965 at Mace’s Lane High School.

After finishing school, Reginald enlisted in the National Guards and traveled to North Carolina.  After basic training, he enlisted in the United States Army on November 9, 1967.  Reginald was a private first class in the Army and was stationed in Germany for a period of time. The U.S. Army recognized Reginald for being an exceptional sharpshooter and awarded him a badge for his accomplishment.

Reginald was employed for several years at Kraft Foods as a scale operator.  He was a member of the Elder’s Club in Federalsburg.  He was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church at an early age, where he attended vacation bible school every year.  It proved that Reginald never forgot that Godly teaching from his youth because he recently re-dedicated his life to Jesus.

“Hambone” as he was also affectionately known, loved cooking and could season his “wild game” just right!  He loved to have family and friends over to try out the new dishes of food that he had prepared.  He also loved big cars.  Reginald was a kind and quiet gentleman, having a heart of gold!

“Reggie” leaves to mourn a loving son, Brad Smith Sr. of Hurlock, MD, two grandchildren; Brad Smith Jr. of Hurlock, MD, and Diamond DeShields of Frederick, MD, three sisters; his twin, Regina Jenkins of Hurlock, MD,

Gwendolyn Killette of Hurlock, MD, and Gloria Smullen of Piscataway, NJ, two brothers; James Bolden of Laurel, DE, and Dickie Haynes of Federalsburg, MD, one step-brother; Robert Baynard of Cambridge, MD, two sisters-n-law, Sandra Bolden of Laurel, DE and Marian Bolden of Cambridge, MD; one brother-n-law; Leroy Smullen of Piscataway, NJ, and one aunt; Jean Bolden of Federalsburg, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Reggie was preceded in death by a son; Reginald Bolden Jr., two brothers; Benjamin “Babes” Haynes III, and Lawrence Bolden, two sisters; Almira “Sally” Bolden and Carolyn Harmon, and two brothers-n-law; Gale Killette and Charles Jenkins Jr.
