Regina V. Brooks, 93, passed away on March 12, 2016 at her home in Elmhurst, IL. Originally from Streator, IL she and her husband of 38 years, E. Burdette Brooks of Tonica, IL, chose Elmhurst as a perfect place to start a business, raise their family and live out their lives. Reggie, as she was known to friends and family, was a devoted wife and mother to daughters, Mary, Janet and Sandra. Both Reggie and Burdette were award winning hair stylists and owners since 1946 of Burdette Hair Fashions, a business from which Reggie retired at age 80. She and Burdette began their life together dancing. They fell in love at the old Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, were long time members of Elmhurst’s Cotillion Club and danced their way through life’s trials and joys. Even after her favorite partner passed, Reggie continued dancing until last year. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, W.O.W and Red Hats.
Reggie is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Anna and John Kolasa, her daughter, Janet, her husband, and her five siblings and their spouses, Alice (Leo), Victor, (Shirley), Jenny (Ernie), Ann (Andy) and Chester (Mary). She is survived by her daughters, Mary and Sandra, brother-in-law Walter Duane and his wife, Evelyn of Hemet, CA and her beloved nieces and nephews.
